In bigger cities there will be a small device attached to certain house television sets (Upon agreement between rating company and subscriber) and these devices automatically capture the channels watched by these subscribers and the time slot. Based on this data, they calculate TRP Rating and publish them...
Similar situation in these free screensavers and toolbars... Since these exe will run all the time you will be browsing, they capture the data of what sites you are browsing and you location etc.. and send to their servers and they sell this data for marketing research companies. So dont install anonymous toolbars, screensavers, search toolbar etc.. incase you want to be secure...
